Job Summary
Reporting to the security Lead, the security officer is responsible for ensuring the safety of all company assets, goods, property and persons at all times by patrolling and monitoring the installations, carrying out checks and providing overall guidance of order of entry and exit, and ensuring maximum security in line with best practices as per the security policy.

Job Details
A security officer shall ensure the following.
• Thorough search of all trucks and staff bags to ensure security for all.
• Report compliance issues relating to all security contracted services daily to the security lead.
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Patrol the company premises to prevent and detect signs of break-ins and ensure security of doors, windows and gates.
• Monitor and authorise entrance and departures of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
• Call Police or fire departments and your superiors in case of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized people.
• Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours.
• Respond to emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, intrusion alarms or any other disturbances.
• Warn people if they break company rules and apprehend or evict violators from premises using force when necessary.
• Implement both safety and security policies, protocols and procedures to maximize safety and security of all IBU staff and assets.
• All doors and windows are closed after work.
• Provide security for ongoing work on the premises and ensure proper clearance of contractors before and after work.
• Any other official duties as required by immediate supervisor.

Competencies
Language Skills
• Proficient in English and any other local languages.

Professional expertise
• A minimum of Uganda Certificate of education (UCE).
• At least three years’ experience in servicing in the security industry
• Written and verbal communication
• Knowledge of security operations and procedures
• Knowledge of UCDA regulations and processes is an advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
