JOB OVERVIEW:
Manages engineering resources and directs installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of facilities and equipment and ensures that all works are being conducted in accordance with site and company safety procedures and regulations as well as driving best practices & continuous improvement
KEY DUTIES:
• Ensure efficient & effective planning, scheduling and execution of maintenance work to support availability of plant for production
• Develop and implement Long-term, annual overhaul/shutdown plans with support from the S&OP Team
• Ensure Asset Registers are up to date
• Optimize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Ensure Change Management procedures are adhered to
• Manage engineering projects
• Develop and implement relevant procedures and work instructions
• Optimize Spares Inventory holding
• Manage innovative ideas in job planning, scheduling & execution to ensure optimum schedule completion and manpower utilization
• Develops a maintenance and repair schedule that aims to continuously drive down company-wide non-productive time (NPT).
• Optimise plant Reliability and Availability
• Entrench Asset Management Best practices
• Ensure all relevant reports are prepared on time and in full
• Facilitate problem solving
• Manage performance of the team and individuals
• Develop strong & effective working relationships within team and cross-functionally
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice production engineering; planning vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
• Designs, proves, implements and maintains production systems to deliver product on time, to quality requirements and to cost
• Drives continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times, process improvement, machine availability through lean techniques and value engineering to enhance the capability of existing processes and remove waste.
• Develops and maintains project plans to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales.
• Ensures that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
• Contributing to development of pragmatic processes, policies and procedures.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 2 years engineering experience in food or FMCG industry,
• Proven work experience in corporate/multinational working environment.
• Action and detail oriented, having a drive for success.
• Analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and presentation skills.
• Service-focussed approach, vested in product and process excellence and customer satisfaction.
• Resilience and the ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
• Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work within a changing environment and respond to different demands with a sense of urgency.
• Good knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, methods, and techniques preferably in a food manufacturing/production environment.
• Knowledge and understanding of all relevant national laws, regulations, and operating guidelines.
• Software for maintenance management such as CMMS (FiiX), Project Software (MS Project), AutoCAD, Fundamentals of Asset Management principles & practices
