JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Head – Coverage, the role holder will be responsible for developing and executing business plans for the sector in line with the overall Corporate Banking business strategy. The Sector Head will lead a team of Relationship Managers and work closely with product houses and Retail Banking to ensure that they get maximum revenue from all the relationships.
The role involves growing the sector balance sheet, revenue and growing customer numbers on a sustainable basis whilst managing risk of loss in the portfolio.
LOCATION: Kampala
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Manage client portfolios within the specific sector and is responsible for providing leadership to Relationship Managers/Senior Relationship Managers managing the portfolios.
• Contribute to achievement of Corporate Banking revenue targets from the segment.
• Together with the Relationship Managers and Senior Relationship Managers, originate and conduct assessment of business propositions for both new and existing clients.
• Support the relationships to protect the Bank from loss, maximize returns in a manner consistent with the business strategy.
• Execute sales plans to ensure that all products meet budget commitments.
• Provide responsive, proactive, proficient and effective banking service to customers, there by expanding share of business.
• Develop a good retention strategy in the portfolio for existing clientele, there by growing the wallet share.
• Provide ‘Best in Class’ Relationship Management with Corporates – ‘Strengthening Bank’s brand in the Corporate arena through participation in Industry events and organizing events for dfcu customers.
• Develop and enforce monitoring/ control procedures.
• Manage the asset portfolio to minimise loss and maximise returns.
• Lead and manage the sector team including responsibility for performance, training and development and leave management for each team member.
• Sell Banks products to corporate customers including Multinationals, Large Corporates, Development Organizations, Government, and other parastatals to enhance growth in customer numbers and achieve overall financial targets.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• A University Degree in Business related fields.
• Advanced Leadership training and an MBA will be preferred.
• Five years of experience in Relationship Management skills or in a similar position.
• Three- Five years’ experience in managing people.
• A good understanding of Corporate bank products including but not limited to; Trade Finance Products, Treasury, Project Finance, Lending etc.
• Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of how the role contributes to business success.
• Knowledge of Bank products and services.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Good leadership, performance driving & people management skills.
• Credit analysis and due diligence skills.
• Exceptional client relationship management skills.
• Understanding/management of customer, product, and market risks.
• Good understanding of risk management and mitigation techniques.
• Understanding of varied product solutions required within the Bank’s customer base and ability to recommend new products for development in relation to customer feedback received through relationship management.
