Job Summary
A senior role to support leadership and management of the finance structure to meet the evolving needs and opportunities of a dynamic and results-driven organization. Reporting directly to the functionally to the CFO administratively to the MoTIV Team Lead and serves as both a thought partner for setting long-term strategy and a day-to-day manager. The Finance Lead engages in a wide range of functions including financial reporting, developing financial models and managing budgets; overseeing investment, audit; and supporting talent management.

Responsibilities
The position of Finance Lead encompasses the following major functions or key result areas:
Accounting
• Oversee day-to-day finance and accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, prepayments, expense reporting, payroll processing, monthly reconciliation, and monthly/year-end close
• Maintain the integrity and compliance to the organization wide chart of accounts
• Oversee the compliance with transactional record management across The Village that conforms to regulatory, contractual and finance policies
• Providing assurance for all balance sheet accounts accuracy
• Management and control
• Review and manage (and establish as needed) internal systems, controls, processes, and procedures to ensure the integrity, accuracy, compliance, and usefulness of financial information and reporting
• Support the oversight of the timely and accurate development of budgets, financial reports, and models that will assist the CFO, Team Lead, Senior Management Team, and Board, in making informed strategy, resource allocation, and investment decisions
• Lead the oversight of The Village working capital requirements and liquidity adequacy assessment through, preparation of cash flow forecasts, management of collections, receivables arrears and PAR, management of payables relationships and payment structuring
• Support the CFO and SMT in developing budgets for proposals and business plans, negotiating contracts and awards, forecasting spending and providing decision support to management, and ensuring compliance with contractor requirements
• Provide assurance for all revenue recognized and generated across The Village
• Lead the risk and control self-assessment review of The Village and coordinate reporting through the CFO and COO to the Team Lead, SMT and the Board of Directors
• Provide oversight and assurance of The Village Fixed Assets register to validity, adequacy of insurance and compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements and organizational policies
• Oversee the design, development and documentation of all finance policies and procedures
• Serve as lead finance business partner to The Village to influence and direct efficiency and effectiveness of resource utilization in line with organization goals and objectives
• Maintain, monitor and report on performance across the financial KPIs for The Village to the CFO, Senior Management Team and the Board of Directors
• Compliance
• Oversee the reporting by The Village to regulators e.g. NSSF, URA and others
• Oversee The Village training and learning program for regulatory compliance for ALL staff
• Lead the departmental compliance with Service Level Agreement standards to The Village
• Maintain the integrity and compliance of corporate governance policies and related documents for The Village

Strategy and risk
• Support the CFO in design and assessment of financial strategy and performance as it relates to managing the annual budget and long-term Village goals while fostering organizational effectiveness and sustainability
• Support the CFO in the timely and accurate development of budgets, financial reports, and models that will assist the CEO, Board, and other senior managers in making informed strategy, resource allocation, and investment decisions
• Assess, create and implement streamlined solutions to support operational effectiveness and provide timely and accurate reporting, reimbursements, etc.
• Provide forex and treasury operational leadership and management to The Village, liaising with financial institutions and funders to manage forex related risks
• Funding
• Support the CFO in development of models for The Village assessing investment, product development, pricing strategy to fit into the overall Village market engagement objectives
• Serve as primary liaison with financial institutions, manage the banking relationships to ensure that they provide the support infrastructure required by The Village
• Talent management
• Partner with CFO to foster department and greater organization culture, and values focused on equity, performance, results, learning, and improvement

Person Specification
Education, Training, Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred
• Chartered Accountant with professional qualification in ACCA, CPAU, ACA, CIMA or economics, or applicable discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing and leading teams
• Strong knowledge of business strategy development, business process management, budgeting and business operations
• Proven experience in managing and developing talent to drive high performance
• Excellent ability to digest and interpret accounting complexity across balance sheet, cash flow and P&L
• Ability to communicate and effectively challenge stakeholders through influencing and building strong relationships at SMT, Leads levels and below
• High-level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint), Adobe, and Oracle NetSuite ERP or other accounting software preferred
• An understanding and experience of working in a fast-paced business environment is preferred
• An ability to work on own initiative, taking minimal direction and offer solutions not problems.
• Excellent organization and decision making skills; pro-active and enquiring mindset.
