Position Description
The Construction Engineer will assist and support the Country Director on assigned projects. S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Country Director, and perform routine daily design, budgeting, scheduling, and project management activities. He/she must be a flexible and adaptable team player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable in an interdisciplinary and diverse international company. He/she has to be a self-starter as it is the sole senior engineering position in a fast-growing company with many responsibilities. This role is an opportunity to be a part of a promising, awarded startup in the bio based buildings sector.

Primary Responsibilities
• Provide engineering design for architectural systems.
• Develop contracts, budgets, timelines, and contract schedules for construction.
• Oversee and manage project cost, quality, and schedule. Issue progress reports.
• Review, forward, and track submittals. Track and inspect material deliveries.
• Initiate, prepare, review, track, and distribute RFI’s and Change Orders.
• Communicate and enforce the Safety and Health Management Program.
• Manage project close-out.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent with at least 4-6 years of industry experience.
• Proficiency in computer software like Autocad and Microsoft Office and knowledge of Critical Path Project Scheduling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, spoken and written English, time management, organizational and basic accounting skills.
• Ability to interpret national building codes, design guidelines and product literature, create drawings and specifications.
• Ability to function dependably and effectively as part of a team, maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times, understand and follow directions.

Desirable Qualifications
• Prior experience with organizations in growth mode.
• Flexible and willing to work in remote areas and perform tasks outside of the current scope to help the organization grow.
• Passionate about building with bio based and natural materials like soil or managing projects involving Stabilized Soil blocks.
• A curious mindset, willing to implement, execute and support new innovations with a goal to continuously improve the engineering of bio based/soil-based structures.
• Experience in executing strict policies and procedures to ensure staff are safe.
