Purpose of Role
This role will be responsible for managing overall operations in our Apiculture Division. The job holder will be expected to ensure the effective and successful management of the apiculture team, productivity, quality control, and safety measures as established and set for the Apiculture Department. They will also be responsible for enhancing the existing operational procedures, systems, & reporting methodology as well as serving as a company representative on regulatory issues..
Accountabilities
• Ensuring that the Apiculture Department’s everyday activities run smoothly right from hive set up & inspection, to Honey harvesting & processing
• Managing the budget for the Apiculture department including any donor funds by minimizing expenses and optimizing profits
• Providing outstanding leadership to team members & motivating them to high performance
• Implementing technology systems to optimize existing processes.
• Ensuring the sustainability of the honey line of business through adopting best practices through the value chain
• Long-term planning to create initiatives that further the Honey Divisions overall goals
• Coordinating with the different teams to foster exchange of ideas and provide cross-team learning opportunities
• Communicating with senior leadership through the monthly reporting process and through the quarterly strategic reviews on shifting division priorities and projects
• Identifying potential problems and points of friction and working to find solutions in order to maximize efficiency and revenue
• Identifying opportunities to expand or shift course in order to take advantage of changes in the market
