Dfcu Bank is a fast-growing Bank in Uganda offering a wide range of financial solutions to its chosen market segments. We are seeking to recruit for the following position of Product Development Consultant – Agricultural Exchange/Agri Xchange in our Commercial (CCO) Domain to support the Agricultural Exchange Program (Agri Xchange) in our expansion strategy.

The Agri Xchange program is an ambitious project by dfcu that aims to avail its financial services within the entire agriculture value chain. The project involves implementing technology, product development, risk management and last mile services to agricultural businesses and proprietors such as farmers (ranging from small to large scale), cooperatives and offtakes. The program shall involve participation of national and international stakeholders in different capacities.

REPORTING TO: Head of Personal and Business Banking
CONTRACT TERM: 12 Months
LOCATION: Kampala


JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Head of Personal and Business Banking, the responsibility of the Program Manager will be to oversee the implementation of this ambitious project and manage the stakeholders along the way.

The Program Manager will apply best practices in program/project management and coordination to ensure the successful completion of the Agri Xchange project on time, within budget and to the specifications agreed with the individual project stakeholders and funding sources. The Manager will identify and develop project key performance indicators, monitor and measure project progress, perform risk management, seek solutions to challenges and conduct corrective actions as necessary, carry out stakeholder mapping/ engagement/ management and resource leveraging, and optimally align strategies, processes, and tools. They will manage conflict, collaboratively solve complex problems; and ensure all organizational and partnership standards are met. They will manage contracts, tracking budgets and deliverables, and will serve as a key liaison for agriculture partners and dfcu Bank staff.

Key Accountabilities:
• Lead the implementation of the Agri Xchange program, including to advance the theory of change, providing strategic leadership, and technical direction.
• Accountable for the projects successful and timely implementation as well as tracking the realization of the intended business results.
• Build, facilitate, and manage partnerships and relationships across stakeholders, while identifying potential new partnerships and opportunities for the program.
• Develop terms of reference for partnerships/coalitions, MOUs, in collaboration with the Project Sponsor.
• Prepare concept notes and project proposals (as required) in collaboration with the Project Sponsor.
• Drive the identification and mitigation of key barriers to the project’s success.
• Manage relationships with the entire project team – including project leadership as well as all project contributors to ensure all parties are well versed with the various project activities and input is considered.
• Facilitate audience appropriate communications regarding project status.
• Responsible for planning, developing, and executing schedules to ensure timely completion of project deadlines and milestones and timely escalation of any barriers for support.
• Support and develop solutions to highly complex problems.
• Engrain Project Management (e.g., Agile methodology) during the project implementation.
• Provide accountability for project deliverables, project monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
• Lead technical reports writing, in collaboration with the Agri Xchange program Sponsor and other dfcu Bank staff involved in the project.
• Work with staff from across dfcu Bank and provide support to organization leadership.
• Serve as point of contact for all external project stakeholders, and others as necessary.
• Lead interdepartmental teams to coordinate the work of peers; provide oversight for multiple key functions assigned to the team.
• Act independently to exercise judgment to identify and solve complex problems and to elevate challenges while ensuring enabling conditions for project implementation.
• Lead the development of projects budgets and negotiate and contract consultants/contractors.
• Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information that may arise during collaborative efforts.
• Ensure compliance with dfcu Bank policies and procedures, external and Country (e.g., partners, BOU, legal) requirements.


Qualifications, Experience And Competencies Required:
• A Degree in Finance, Economics, Agriculture, Environment, International development, or a related field.
• Expert Project Management qualifications i.e., APM, PRINCE2, PMI, CSM or Agile.
• At least 5 years’ experience managing complex or multiple projects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners.
• Experience providing strategic leadership while ensuring quality project deliverables in partnership with public, private, and civil organizations, and governments.
• Demonstrated social and emotional intelligence by successfully engaging and motivating others to support a new path forward, building energy and involvement to sustain results over time.
• Expert time management and organizational skills.
• Experience presenting to and/or communicating to diverse audiences including community or business leaders, program leadership, government agency staff, and/or similar audiences.
• Experience working as a Project/Program Manager in commercial projects with a strong technological component involved.
• Experience in managing conflict in teams and in between individuals.
• Ability to sensitively advise other staff on how to effectively engage with internal and external parties.
• Attention to detail and a good listener.
• Capacity to advocate successfully using data, communicate with authenticity and credibility.
• Strong knowledge and background in agri-food systems and key stakeholders in Uganda/ Africa.
• Ability to engage others through dynamic, empathetic, and articulate presentations and dialogue, conveying contagious enthusiasm that engenders a shared vision for the future.
• Willingness to travel across Uganda to ensure effective implementation of the project.
• High levels of integrity and clean background record.
