Department Purpose
To work with the Oxfam team to deliver robust and effective communication strategies that will increase Oxfam’s visibility among internal and external audiences.

Job Purpose
We are looking for a Communications graduate trainee to provide a support function to communications. Key responsibilities will include supporting the production process of IEC materials, content gathering and story writing.

Job Responsibilities
Technical

• Collect content and support the production for the monthly newsletter to key stakeholders (internal and external)
• Closely work with program and project teams to gather and write human interest and news stories.
• Support in the administrative and logistic part of the communications role including reviewing messages and products by partners
• Liaise with printers and other suppliers to ensure production of different materials is in line with branding guidelines
• Provide communications support during events
• Provide input and advise around communications plans and messaging where appropriate.
• Support in media management including media tracking and reporting
• Contribute to the social media content plan
• Support in media relations, keeping the media lists updated and monitoring, gathering press clippings and updating the media tracker
• Support in keeping the global shared photo database updated with Uganda content
• Support in keeping the intranet updated
• Support the internal branding process
• Support the Communication team in the delivery of the communications strategy
• Regulary travel to the field to support story gathering

Job Requirements
Essential

• Ability to work in a team and under tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
• Knowledge of media production, communication including digital communications, and dissemination techniques and methods.
• Proficient in use of computer applications related to the tasks
• Excellent communication skills, in written and verbal English.

Desirable
Education:

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, Mass communication or similar field
