Job Details:

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To develop Uganda’s MICE brand, marketing and PR communications strategy, and promotion of Uganda’s MICE offering supported by development of the appropriate marketing collateral for both internal and external industry relations for educational and business development purposes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
a) Honour’s Bachelor’s degree in either Tourism, Marketing, Business Administration (marketing), B.COM (Marketing), or Mass communication.

EXPERIENCE
a. Three (3) years working directly on branding projects or and marketing communications
b) campaigns of a large and successful private/public sector company.
c) Understanding of how to analyse market trends & competition, strengthening brand awareness, and ensuring consistency in messaging across all channels.
d) Experience with computers, report-writing, spreadsheets and online or social media marketing.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES AND OBJECTIVES (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)
Key Result Area: (What is the core area the job holder is accountable)

Activities/Processes for each Key Result Area (KRA)

KRA 1: MICE brand, Marketing and communication strategy
a) Develop and Implement the MICE brand and marketing strategy for Uganda Convention Bureau.
b) Activation of advertising media strategy to key source markets against media plan encompassing print and online media channels.
c) Develop and execute UCB newsletter for customer relationship marketing strategy, communicating with media, meeting planners and prospective clients and MICE industry stakeholders to engage participation and grow the sector.
d) Assist and execute media campaigns and advertising creatives including working closely Media Agencies and Internal stakeholders (Brand and Advertising, eCommerce, social media) to provide clear and concise briefs with timely execution.

KRA 2: MICE branding, collateral and promotional items
a) Review and develop UCB collateral in the form of a website, brochures, videos, newsletters, and other supporting collateral as appropriate.
b) Develop, create and implement effective marketing/promotional collateral and other marketing and sales engagement tools as well aswebsite updates, social media and on property materials.
c) Develop, collaborate and manage all on-property marketing collaterals to positively enhance the experiences of guests.

KRA3: participate in events/exhibitions
Participate in global MICE industry trade show exhibitions together with private sector stakeholders to engage with global industry role-players, attend educational sessions, generate leads and sell Uganda to potential clients.

KRA 4: MICE Stakeholder Engagements
a) Facilitate UCB inputs and hosting of quarterly industry educational and networking platforms.
b) Prepare a database of key role-players for ongoing communication through newsletters.
c) Increase the visibility and understanding UCB through effective communication of its activities including developing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders.
d) Develop and maintain database of MICE media.
e) Identify potential regional / international MICE media for hosted fam trips.


KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
a) Marketing and communications strategy refreshed periodically.
b) MICE website updated weekly.
c) Produce and update MICE video annually.
d) Create and place 10 Ads in 5 global and African MICE publications annually, both digital and print
e) Database of national, regional and international MICE media, journalists and PR companies.
f) A ‘Guard Book’ record of all UCB collateral developed to monitor brand identity, application of branding, promotional campaigns and on-going brand extension development.
g) PowerPoint destination presentation created that can be tailored to individual client requirements
h) Database of key MICE industry stakeholders, public and private sector in place.
i) Studies conducted on MICE brand image.
j) MICE Brand audit.
k) Produce monthly risk logs
